My website

My website's front page features a stricking image of the protagonists with one of his eye areas illuminated with a purple light, this draws the visitors attention. This perfectly highlights the importance of the protagonists as he is the first image that is shown on the website as it is the home screen. There are the production company idents at the top so that the audinece will know who was involved so that they can see who worked on the film, they are positioned as the first thing you see so that the audience will know who worked on the film.

Directly underneath that there is the line 'From the team behind Duty Calls comes the visionary new film'. This line means that the audience can link this production to another film so that the film gets some attention and to garnet some 'hype' for the film. this is a common technique used in marketing other films so I wanted to follow the conventions here to create realism.

The title 'silhouette' was shown with the same font that i used accross the entire website, however it was made much larger than the other writing on the website to draw the viewers attention as it is the title of the film and is arguable the most important part of the amrketing fo th film as the audience need to to know what the film is called or else they wont see the film at all.

The Tagline 'it's in the shadows' brings up questions that the audience will want answered, the question being what is the poster referencing woith the word 'it'. The question therefore draws the viewers attention in further and serves as an incentive to see the film, this trope is common umong thriller film websites and posters so i wanted replicate it here.

The synopsis page serves as a place to insert information about the film so that the visitors and the audience know what the film will be about. The synopsis commonly is quite vague as the the team have to not give much away. My synopsis attempt to follow conventions by raising questions, using negative wording such as 'dangerous', 'Wrong' and 'survive'.

Frank Ash, who serves as the BBC's creative consultant stated that the film's promotion material must provide a 'top line' and a 'big question'. For my top line I created a small paragraph that provides context for what the film would be about, this was neccisary as we had to provide enough information so that the potential audience knows . The Big question, however, serves as a way to draw the viewers attention and as a Unique Selling Point (USP). The USP for this film is that they will either win or lose, and the win will save humanity, and the loss with doom humanity.

Reviews are a part of the website and the promotional campaign that are neccisary to gain attention, for if a film has no reviews or negetive reviews then the potential audience will not watch the film, therefore it is necissary to have positive reviews from credible sources to help build attention and to raise hype for the films release.

I had three reviews that were positive and drew attention to the positive aspects of the film and used word that seem more professional such as 'genre', 'classic' and 'modern cinema'. These words act as an incentive to push the visitors to watch the film.

The production team page draws attention to each member of the cast and crew and highlights what they did to contribute to the production of the film. This also serves as a way for the viewer to get to know the cast and build a more personal relationship with them. This page utilises text and images to make sure that the viewer gains sufficent information about the cast and crew to build a personal relationship with them and this will serve as a usp to get the viewer to watch the film.

This will also mean that the audience will know who to credit for different parts of the production, and they will know who is responsible for the editing, directing, camerawork, acting, casting, etc. this means that they will be able to credit the neccisary member of the team for an aspect of the film trailer, as well as who the actors are.

The gallery is important so that the visiters can get a better feel for the usage of camerwork and how the team functioned behind the scenes. This showed how we worked as a team and how we functioned as a group. The pictures also worked as stills for the film, which inherently shows how we used camera angles and shot compostition. This will gain the viewers attention and they will know how the film will look and will be able to draw the viewer in and get them to watch the film.

The Behind the scenes page also means that they can see how we film scenes before editing them as seen with the green screen footage of filming the news scene. The variety of shot composition and shot types helps to reflect the film itself and serves as a taster of what the film is and gets the viewer to want to watch the film.

The festival page was made to be a minimalistic design but have as much information as possible. this means that the times and dates were all in numbers, which also follows the genre conventions of military.

Another part of the festival page that I incorporated, despite not exactly following genre conventions was that of imbedding a link into each of the festivals' logos. This means that when you click on the festival logo it will take you to the corrosponding website for the festival.

The shop page was a later addition to the website that I added after deciding to design a t-shirt for my film. This page clearly shows the product with a small section of text using the correct terminology of 'merchendise' for the as opposed to 'product'. The shirt is clearly positioned and it is obvious to the viewer that the shirt is the item for sale.

The social media campaign is comprehensive as it encompasses all platforms. It is where the film get promoted the most and is where the viewers and potential veiwers can express concerns, ask questions, give feedback, etc. I have a twitter logo and an instagram logo which take you to the corrosponding page. Regular updates and change in features encourage further audience involvement building interest in the film.
